Why Salad Could Be The Best Food For Weight Loss

If you're searching for the best food for weight loss then I'm here to tell you that there's no "magic" ingredient that'll melt away the pounds. There is, however, one powerful weapon you can use to your advantage, and that is the simple salad!

In fact, salad isn't so simple at all. There's so much that can go into a salad (high-calorie dressings excluded) and so much that you'll get out of it. You'll boost the amount of fruit and vegetables you eat each day, leaving you feel healthier thanks to the vitamins, minerals and fiber, and you'll help to fill yourself up to avoid snacking.

It's the fiber in the salads that generally make them more filling and most effective for losing weight. You can also get the same desirable effect by including larger portions of veg in your main meals (and smaller portions of meat or carbs) or by eating foods such as soups and smoothies.

You Can Eat More Without Worrying!

Now, this doesn't give you a license to go out and add unhealthy dressings or fatty meats to your salads. However, when you eat salad as a main meal you'll generally find that you can eat more of it without needing to feel guilty. The ingredients contained within the salad are not only lower in calories, they'll also leave you feeling fuller for longer.

A good strategy is to try eating a salad as a starter for your main meal every day. Make sure it's a reasonably large salad, with low fat ingredients, or you may not notice the benefits as much. Then, serve yourself a smaller portion of your main meal than usual, but only after you've waited around fifteen minutes for your salad to digest.

Studies show that this strategy can help to reduce calorie consumption by over 100 calories per meal! You simply won't feel like eating as much of your main meal as usual, and it'll be easier to limit your calorie intake.

Breaking Out Of Bad Habits

Although consuming more salad every day may not sound like the most appealing thing right know, the reason why salad is considered the best food for weight loss is because it'll break you out of bad habits. The more you get used to eating vegetables - full of vitamins and minerals - the more your body will get used to it, and the more you'll really notice that you want to eat it!

Salad isn't just good for your body, it's also good for the mind. Having a salad for lunch can help to prevent that afternoon energy drop that often leads to a loss of willpower and more snacking. The longer you eat salad for, the more you'll notice that your energy levels start to improve and that you're more mentally prepared to stop yourself snacking and to put in the effort that's required to lose weight.

Salad really is the best food for weight loss when it comes to keeping you fuller for longer, improving your overall health, and giving you the energy you need to meet your weight loss goals.
