WHAT IS SELF-IMPROVEMENT ALL ABOUT?

Are You Frustrated With Self Help
If you are like most people, there is something about yourself that you are not completely satisfied with. In fact, there may be quite a few things which you would like to change.
Unfortunately, most of the self-help material that is currently available will not give you the results you really want. In addition to spending a fortune and using too much of your time, you will find that most of this material lacks what it takes for self-improvement.
It will have you concentrating on the negatives, and even picking apart everything from your personality to your childhood in search of problems which likely do not even exist.
Self Motivation comes from doing what needs to be done and changing what needs to be changed. It comes from being completely honest with yourself, but it does not mean searching for problems that are not there, or berating yourself over everything about yourself and your life that is not ideal.
You may have a number of characteristics which you do not like. Some may be directly affecting your relations with other people, or standing in the way of your potential to succeed. If you have the self-motivation to look at how these characteristics are affecting you, it should not be difficult to be motivated enough to want to be rid of them.
You want to be your best self. You also want to be able to communicate, work, and live effectively. However, unlike many of the self-help materials will tell you, none of this means that you must tear down the person you are and start from scratch. Instead, what true self-improvement is about is working with what you already have and making it even better.
You may wish to be less shy, more assertive, more conscientious, or some other characteristic you truly feel would be an asset. You may be thinking about how those desired new assets could make your life a little easier, more productive, and more fulfilling.
It is in your favor to recognize those things about yourself that you would like to change, and those which you would like to develop.
Self-improvement is not about trying to reconstruct yourself. It is not about seeing virtually everything about yourself and your life in negative terms. It is about changing what really needs to be changed; but it is also about appreciating all of the qualities and experiences which have made you the person you are.
When you focus on developing your strengths, you will see that the weaknesses are not nearly as significant as you may have been led to believe.
