Stretching Your Comfort Zone by Exploring the Unknown
Sometimes, you stick to what’s familiar because you know you can be sure of what happens. You take comfort in that feeling that you will always be in a place where you can do the things you know you’re good at. You get so used to things that when unexpected things happen, you sometime don’t know how to react, especially if it is something you’re not ready to have in your life.
These comfort zones provide solace and peace when anxiety moves in and takes over the situation. While you do need a place to retreat when things gets too tough to handle, you shouldn’t make it a constant in your life.
When you want to achieve greatness, you have to realize that you also need to venture out into the unknown. Greater things come when you look elsewhere. Those who achieve success do so because they put themselves on the line and were willing to take risks. They dare to do things that most won’t necessarily risk. They may have fallen harder than others, they also got back on the saddle better than ever.
Growing up, you were taught to always take the safe route for the sake of your health and peace of mind. But that’s not how reality often works. In fact, the world can be a tough and challenging place to live in. You were also taught to believe that you could survive as long as you have a good education to back you up.
Your school may have given you the equipment to face the world, but you also have to rely on sheer willpower and inner strength to do better.
You need to learn how to be flexible and resilient when it comes to changes. You should not limit your abilities to perform well in only certain areas. In fact, you should be able to adapt wherever you are. And for whatever life throws at you, you should be ready to face it even when it is something you’re not entirely familiar with. Too many people just wish to surround themselves with only what they know for the sake of their own ease.
They try to keep surprises to a minimum and excuse their attitude by saying that they thrive on the familiar. They hold back because they think that they are being rational, but the truth is, they will never be as great as many people.
They may also fear ridicule. If they assume that they can never be successful, then they’d rather not try anything at all. This paralyzing attitude brings about regret, particularly in life’s later years. Would you like to lead boring a life, one that is devoid of fun and adventure? If we want more, you need to become braver and more adventurous. Comfort zones don’t mean anything for risk takers because they know that reaching their goal trumps everything else. Don’t live your life in a box because life will always have its share of surprises, and rather than running away from them, you should embrace your experiences and learn to see the bright side in these bittersweet shockers.
