Low self esteem can affect every aspect of your life, your happiness, and your success in life and career. It is also important that you master those skills and improve your own confidence so that you can show the way to your own family and kids to make sure they are confident and have healthy self esteem.

Self esteem may be viewed in two aspects. The first aspect refers to having confidence in yourself and your capabilities. The second aspect is self-respect or recognizing that you are worthy and deserving of success. These two aspects are hard to achieve. Here are some pointers that can help you accomplish your goals and build your self esteem.

Beware of negative surroundings. People have a competitive nature and this is good since people try to excel in their work. However, in their efforts to win, they might try to pull down the other person or resort to devious means. Do not stoop to their level.

People may notice the unfair and unjust tactics you use in winning over others and it will only pull you down further. Be above board in your dealings and actions. Don’t talk negatively of others if they are not present to defend themselves.

Don’t work in an environment where people do not notice your contributions to the projects. If people do not appreciate your working late or missing meals to help the group meet the deadlines, leave the environment.

You will end up discouraged and despondent and it will not help in building up your self esteem. Be ready to compete in a healthy and fair environment.

There are a number of people with negative attitudes and dispositions in the workplace and in social gatherings. These persons may be backstabbers, gossipers, naggers, complainers and all sorts of people with negative vibes.

They will affect you negatively and ruin your efforts of developing and maintaining a positive outlook. Avoiding them may be the best alternative but if you cannot evade them, do not let them affect you. Be diplomatic and tactful when associating and discussing with them.

This situation happens often in the workplace where you have to work with negative co-employees. Do your job well and enthusiastically. Your co-workers might gripe, complain and utter other negative remarks but you should try not to get affected by their comments. Brush it aside and do your work to the best of your capabilities. Be proud of your accomplishments. Don’t let the other people put you down.

Don’t expect the home to be a safe haven all the time. There may be occasions that problems and troubles will occur within the house. Don’t let it unsettle you. Consider them challenges and opportunities to enhance your talents and abilities to handle difficulties arising in the house.

The family may be in a stressful and tense mood. Try to empathize with them and show enthusiasm in resolving the problems. They will appreciate your efforts and be more supportive when resolving problems.

We cannot be perfect all the time. There will be instances that we will fail in our efforts. Most successful people encountered numerous failures before finally succeeding. Don’t give up in your endeavors.

Show your determination and perseverance. Treat the past failures as part of your learning experiences. Learn from the mistakes. Being positive and enthusiastic will help you get over the failures.
Keep your standards and values untarnished. Some people sacrifice their beliefs and values to accomplish their goals. In so doing, they lose respect for themselves.

Try to maintain your beliefs and values. People will respect you for your integrity. You will feel better knowing that you have upheld your beliefs and values despite the difficulties and problems. It is hard to face yourself and other people if you tainted your integrity. Be conscious of your actions and discipline your behavior. Being self-confident and having self-respect will help you gain self-esteem in no time.
