Self Help tips to Become a Better Person

Self-awareness basically involves getting to know yourself deeper: your quirks, your likes and dislikes, your mannerisms, the way you react to situations, and so on. It is about knowing more about the many facets of your personality.

In the field of psychology, experts put a great deal of importance on the concept of self-awareness. Why? Because this helps us recognize how we will react to a variety of situations.

This is also a prerequisite for successful communication and relations. The better you know yourself, the better you are able to accept who you are or change the things that can be destructive for you.

If you are constantly kept in the dark about your true self, you will live a life filled with struggle and confusion.

When it comes to being more aware, experts usually bring up the concept of the Johari window. This is a simple and helpful tool that illustrates the concept of self-awareness.

The model was developed by American psychologists Joseph Luft and Harry Ingham in the 1950s. The window is a representation of important information such as feelings, attitudes, views, and skills found within and outside a person.

It touches the relationship the person has with themselves and the people around them. There are four quadrants in the window: the personality traits known by only the self, known only by others, known by both, and known by none.

Self-awareness aims to open all these windows so that the person can work on improving their relationships with themselves and the people that surround them. It opens new possibilities and helps people understand how they can value themselves and the others more.

The window is essentially a model for communication. It is able to reveal strengths and weaknesses so that hurdles are better handled. Difficulties arise because both parties are not always aware of the aspects involved.

The person’s personality should be taken into serious consideration. If you don’t understand the other, you may end up in conflict. This is all because of lack of understanding. Awareness of self and how people around you react is the key to the person’s success.

It is no secret that personal growth requires self-awareness. As we become more aware of whom we are, we can work on our weaknesses and start working on the change. It not only reveals our difficulties, it also opens us up to new experiences that will help us gain wisdom and grow as a person. We will realize just what we are capable of because we get to know things about us that we’ve never realized.

The road to self-awareness is a long one. It is something that requires reflection, practice, and guidance. First, you must know what your goals are, set your intention, find ways to creatively reach these goals, and focus as you climb the ladder of success.

You are able to gain knowledge from previous experiences, apply what you’ve learned, and do something better the next time you are faced with the same situation. Because you’ve taken in what you’ve learned and worked on yourself, you are bound to succeed.

You will learn more about yourself and realize just how much you can attain if you realize your innermost talents.

So, to truly attain self-awareness, we must learn to accept who we are, get in touch with our thoughts, and start on the road to recovery. This can best be attained with the help of a professional person objective enough to see every side.

When you reflect back in your life, you can discover how you have become the person you are. We can only change things and attain our full potential if we know who we are and what we can do.
