What advice would you give yourself 20,30,40, years from now?
Every time I have asked that question people seem to offer similar answers.
“Do what is important to me.”
“Spend time with people I care about,”
“Appreciate what I have.”
Why not do it now? When we live the life of the anxious roadrunner, always planning for the future we miss the present. We overload our schedule and then complain that there are not enough hours in the day. Life passes us by.
How can we TAKE CHARGE Of OUR LIFE?
Step One: DECIDE what is important to you. Define your needs and determine what you would be doing if those needs were met. Visualize the picture of you behaving in those ways and the direction you would be heading. This helps create a target and some guideposts.
Step Two: BELIEVE IN YOURSELF to be able to make your Goals a reality. If you tap into your power and capabilities, events and people will support you. Do not allow your negative thoughts about yourself to sabotage you. Your thoughts create your experience any fears and doubts you have are the thoughts that have been driving you. So think positively. Initially, this may feel awkward, but the more you do it, the more comfortable you will feel. Nobody can know you and stand behind you like you can to make your life count.
Step 3: TAKE ACTI0N and get moving. Most people have some idea what they want and even know what they need to do get there, but they miss the final step to guarantee results. Take small steps and be realistic what you can handle. This way, your conscious mind will more readily adjust to and accept the goal. Do not give up if you do not move quickly enough or even if you move backwards.
Give yourself credit for doing what you can and build upon that.
Talk to yourself as you would a good friend or a small child when they are having a tough time.
Be patient and loving with yourself and treat yourself like a precious object.
Confidence comes after mastery and mastery involves taking action.
Choose the life you want and make it happen.
Twenty, thirty, forty years from now you will be able to look back on your life and know that you followed the advice that you will give yourself today.
