Self Help | Change to a Better You

You go to different functions and meet people that impress you. They seem to be doing all the right things even without trying.

Then, a friendship ensues. You get along because they think you are exactly alike.

You know that if you didn’t change, this relationship would never have existed in the first place. You begin to find yourself copying their moves, adapting their habits, and practicing their lifestyle.

Change is good, but only if it is a matter of personal preference and if it is done in your terms. You shouldn’t change just to please others; otherwise, it will never work.

You have to change for you and not anyone else.

Do not let anyone transform you into someone else, someone you hardly recognize. It will be a struggle that eventually leads to the path of destruction.

You may be content for the meantime, thinking that you are better because you’ve molded yourself to be like the person you most admire. The thing is, this would no longer be the real you.

The person who you’re destined to be is stifled deep inside.

We all could be better people. There are things we need to work on, things we need to improve. Change is not a bad thing, just as long as you have noble reasons behind it.

When you look back, you should see your past experiences as lessons learned. You cannot live a life of regret because it’s just not the way it should be.

It’s naïve to think that changing for someone else eventually benefits you because you will lose parts that are most important to you. When things fall apart, you will end up lost and confused.

It’s only when you tweak and adjust your ways for your own good will you come out with the best version of you. While you may take inspiration from others, it’s important to also remember that you keep true to who you are. Love yourself, and the others will see what you see.

Your first step toward change is to be conscious of the need. Get the issue at your emotional and rational core. Only when you become emotionally impacted by the need for change will it be possible.

When you make that very important decision, it shouldn’t be as quick as lightning. Rather, tiny steps work best because you need to think about the repercussions and effects of your decision. Basically, you need a lot of patience.

You have to consciously make yourself do something, and this may be a little difficult. With practice and persistence, it will become second-nature.

Developing a system of some sort may be helpful especially when you reinforce this new action until it becomes a habit. Just build into your daily routine and keep notes of your progress. Depending on the change, the people around can make it either easy or difficult.

It's important to know that change does present opportunities. Sometimes, it doesn't always look like there might be an opportunity but eventually, people will recognize the good that came by making that change, especially when it involves making you a better person.

This may also be your chance to go on to do the next great thing. Use each change as an opportunity to fine tune your process and attitude going forward.

The best thing to show future generations is to be able to honor change at a personal level the same way everyone respects innovations.
