SMOOTHIE RECIPES Courtesy of David Exon Banana-Berry Smoothie Preparation time: 5 minutes Serves: 1 Soy milk turns this fabulous classic smoothie into a creamy treat. Adding soy powder boosts the protein to 23 grams. 1 medium banana, sliced and frozen - Combine banana, strawberries and orange juice concentrate. Add White Wave Silk Vanilla Soymilk and blend until smooth and creamy. Serve immediately. Per serving: 170 calories; 5 grams protein; 2 grams total fat (0 grams saturated fat); 36 carbohydrates; 0 cholesterol; 45 milligrams sodium; 3 grams fiber
Follow the recipe, but increase White Wave Silk Vanilla soymilk to 1 1/2 cups and add 1 cup White Wave Silk Strawberry soy yogurt and 2 tablespoons of soy protein powder. Smoothie Headache Cure The following smoothie recipe and variation are said to be not only healthy in a general sort of way but also as a cure for migraine headaches. I don't know whether that's the case or not, but I'm sharing the information because the smoothie tastes great (if you like spinach and pineapple, that is). Pineapple Spinach Smoothie Take a chilled 6 oz. can of pineapple juice, put into blender. Add a handful of washed, chilled spinach, and blend until smooth. Tastes delicious and is loaded with calcium, protein, and lots of other goodies. Variation: take a can of chilled pineapple chunks and add spinach in a blender until thick. Add juice of pineapple to a consistency that you can drink. Drink a large glassful and lay down. The migraine should go away or at least lessen. That is an old remedy and I don't know if anyone has ever heard of it or not. Vegetarian Protein Shake Recipe In a blender, combine the following: 2 bananas Put all the above in 1/2 to 2 cup water, depending on how thin you like your drink. Then blend it all to the desired consistency. Healthy Avocado Smoothie Recipe 1 medium or large ripe avocado Peel and slice avocado and pineapple into small chunks. Crush ice with the orange juice. Combine with rest of ingredients and puree in blender until smooth. A Healthy Nut Milk Shake If you're a Dairy Queen fanatic, I understand the compulsion. It's hard to beat a soft serve on a hot day or with a hot date. Unfortunately, most desserts and snacks made with traditional, pasteurized dairy and sugar are anything but healthy for your body. But don't despair because I have a great alternative for you, an easy and delicious recipe: Health Nut Milk Shake 3/4 cup almonds, soaked 2-8 hours or Optional flavorings: 1 tsp non-alcoholic vanilla extract In blender, combine nuts, dates and water or juice until smooth. Break frozen banana into pieces, add to mixture and blend until smooth. Add one or more optional flavors if desired. Pour into glasses. Serves 4. MORE SMOOTHIE RECIPES: Vanilla, Chocolate or Berry Powder with water, plus ice. NOTE: a. If Fresh Juice is not available use commercial Unsweetened Juice. IMPORTANT: Other forms of milk may slow down results or cause Diarrhea or Constipation. Best used as a preventative and is excellent for people with low immunity or who suffer from a compromised elimination system due to disease, medication or surgery.
