PROTEIN:
Protein is essential for growth and development. It provides the body with energy and is needed for the manufacture of hormones, antibodies, enzymes and tissues. It also helps build muscles.
FAT:
Although fat usually gets negative attention, the body does need some fat to provide energy and support growth.
CARBOHYDRATES:
Carbohydrates supply the body with the energy it needs to function. They are the main source of blood glucose which is a major fuel for all the body’s cells and the only source of energy for the brain and red blood cells.
FIBRE:
Although most fibre is not digested, it provides several important health benefits. For example: fibre binds with certain substances that would normally result in the production of cholesterol and eliminates these substances from the body. It also creates bulk and supports healthy digestive function.
LINOLEIC ACID:
Linoleic Acid is an Omega-6 fatty acid which are generally necessary for stimulating skin and hair growth, maintaining bone health, regulating metabolism, and maintaining reproductive capability.
SODIUM:
A certain level of sodium is required for survival. Sodium helps the body to maintain healthy fluids levels, healthy muscle function and proper acidity in the blood.
POTASSIUM:
This mineral is important for a healthy nervous system and a regular heart rhythm.
VITAMIN A:
Vitamin A prevents night blindness and other eye problems and aids in the formation of bones and teeth. It also helps protect against cold and flu.
THIAMINE (VITAMIN B2):
Thiamine enhances blood circulation and assists in blood formation. It also helps to optimise brain function and has a positive effect on energy, growth, normal appetite and learning capacity.
RIBOFLAVIN (VITAMIN B2):
Riboflavin is necessary for red blood cell formation, anti-body production, cell respiration and growth.
CYANOCOBALAMIN (VITAMIN B12):
This vitamin is required to prevent amenia. Its aids folic acid in regulating the formation of red blood cells and helps the utilisation of iron.
VITAMIN B6:
Vitamin B6 is involved in more bodily functions than almost any other nutrient. It affects both physical and mental health. It is useful if you suffer from water retention and is necessary for the absorption of fats and protein.
NIACIN (VITAMIN B3):
This vitamin is needed for proper circulation and healthy skin. It also aids in the functioning of the nervous system.
ASCORBIC ACID (VITAMIN C):
Vitamin C is an anti-oxidant that aids in tissue growth and repair, healthy gums and also helps the production of anti stress hormones and terferon which is an important immune-system protein.
CHOLECALCIFEROL (VITAMIN D):
Vitamin D helps to protect against muscle weakness and is also important in the regulation of the heartbeat.
VITAMIN E:
Vitamin E improved circulation, is necessary for tissue repair and is useful in treating premenstrual syndrome.
FOLATE:
Folate is considered brain food. This nutrient is needed for energy production and the formation of red blood cells.
CALCIUM:
Calcium plays a role in strengthening bones and teeth, regulating muscle functioning such as contraction and relaxation, regulating heart functioning, blood clotting and transmission of nervous system messages.
IODINE:
Iodine helps to metabolise fat and is important for physical and mental development.
IRON:
Iron is the mineral found in largest amounts in the blood and is important for growth. Iron is also required for energy production and a healthy immune system.
PHOSPHORUS:
Phosphorus is needed for blood clotting, bone and tooth formation, cell growth, contraction of the heart muscle, normal heart rhythm and kidney function.
MAGNESIUM:
Magnesium is necessary to prevent calcification of soft tissue. It also maintain normal body temperature and the body’s proper pH levels.
ZINC:
Zinc allows acuity of taste and smell and protects the liver from chemical damage. It is also vital for bone formation.
