One Minute Tip:

Confidence is ultimately an expression of self-esteem.

Self-esteem is definitely something you can work on. Try these suggestions to boost your self-esteem:

• Do something challenging – Do something you would normally think you couldn’t do. That might be as small as reading Romeo and Juliet or as extreme as doing a sky-dive. Whatever it is, push your boundaries and when you succeed at it you will like yourself more.

• Do some volunteer work – Besides being a great way to help others and meet potential dates, you will garner appreciation for your work and who you are. This is certain to boost your self-esteem.

Power Quotes:

Happiness:

The more people have studied different methods of bringing up children the more they have come to the conclusion that: what good mothers and fathers instinctively feel like doing, is best after all.
– Benjamin Spock

Health:

”It doesn’t matter what you are thinking or what fear you have, if you just do it. Action is the only thing that matters.
I can see that at the end of my life, I’m going to look back and say, ‘Gosh, I wish I had taken more action’.”
- Diana von Welanetz Wentworth

Prosperity:

You can have anything you want if you want it badly enough. You can be anything you want to be, do anything you set out to accomplish if you hold to that desire with singleness of purpose.
– Abraham Lincoln

Tips for your Happiness:

Definition of Marriage Includes Union – Are You United?

The dictionary defines union as an act of uniting or joining two or more things into one. The union of marriage is a good example of the joining together of two people as one.

Anytime two things are joined together, it takes a concerted effort and determination. When two unlike materials are drawn together in an effort to merge them into one there is a certain natural resistance.

Marriage, however, is a natural union and even though there may be resistance and friction in the beginning, when the union is made the people who are united become stronger as one. Love and commitment is the glue that bonds it together and over the years this bond becomes stronger as love endures all things.

Most marriages are stronger in the beginning and grow weaker as love becomes routine and is oft times taken for granted. As strong as your love and dedication to your spouse may be in the beginning, it’s more vulnerable than you realize if you fail to plan.

Yes, it takes more than love to maintain the durability of your marriage union. Together you must map out a strategy on how to maintain your love in spite of day to day pressures and temptations. It takes hard work and commitment but the sanctity of marriage is worth every sacrifice as you build a life and family together.

Early in the marriage, with the shock of leaving the family who has raised you and guided you in your early years, you could experience a feeling of loneliness and even jealousy. If your spouse is too busy with business or household demands to give you the attention you think you deserve and need it’s easy to seek comfort with another.

This could lead to cheating and even divorce if you give into the temptations of satisfying your lonely heart. Those who have developed a balance of closeness and independence in their marriage make the conversion much easier than those who are less secure. Make the extra effort to form a bond that will last forever by maintaining the spark that drew you together in the first place.

Know that this is not unusual. Most couples suffer from many seemingly unresolvable differences and as this conflict grows it can divide your union. Fight the tendency to withdraw and hope things will get better.

Without a good approach, it rarely does. Closeness is harder to restore if you put your marriage on hold while you proceed with the demands of every day living.

One spouse may view the situation as feeling overloaded with business pressures and being hit with too many demands while the other feels neglected and even bored. Start early to avoid these issues and build a positive attitude in your relationship.

If there is something you dislike about the other, talk it over and resolve the matter or it will only grow and persist to the point of annoyance and resentment. Be interested in each other after the marriage as you were before.

No matter how busy you are, make time for the person you love. Start with love and commitment, mix in a little strategy with a workable plan and your will forge a union that is unbreakable.

Unhappy? Check for these signs of stress:

Stress can and will affect everyone individually; which is why at times, it can be difficult to identify whether you are suffering from a symptom of stress.

One of the most common symptoms of stress is an upset stomach. This is sometimes undetected as we often pass an upset stomach off as a day illness. If the upset stomach continues, however, as it frequently does with stress, then you need to start considering the possible long term effects that this can have on your digestive system.

Another sign of stress is that you will have an increase in headaches and asthma attacks. This again can go unnoticed at first. When you notice headaches, migraines or asthma attacks beginning to become more frequent, try to note when you have feelings of anxiety or stress and when you suffer from an attack. This will help you to build a pattern.

Chinese Insight Into the World of Herbal Medicine

Of our earliest ancestors, the Chinese have made it a point to incorporate nature’s garden into the world of medicine more than any other culture, still adhering to the mindset of the importance of herbs to this day.

Although many cultures have traditionally used seeds and plant parts in their remedies, China has alleviated ailments using herbs since around 5,000 BC. Having amassed this knowledge for thousands of years, the Chinese have mastered the art of cultivating herbs for medicinal purposes and other cultures look to them for insight into how a diagnosis can be treated through the use of herbs.

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is heavily relied on throughout the world by everyone from the common consumer to specialists in every field of medicine. The Chinese developed their system of medicine and herbal remedies to cater to the yin and yang principle, where the body should be in perfect balance and herbs deliver harmony to the person taking them.

Instead of treating one symptom, as is commonly done in the Western world of modern medicine Chinese herbal remedies seek to get the body back into a natural state of balance so that healing can occur and any imbalances are eliminated. In conjunction with herbs, the Chinese also incorporate acupuncture, massage, and a healthy diet into the concept of harmony for healing purposes.

One Chinese Emperor is credited with the launch of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Emperor Shen Nong (2697 BC) began personally tasting and testing various plants and their parts to see how it would affect his body and could help others with ailments such as circulation improvements and urinary infections.

Later on in history, Emperor Huang Ti developed what is now the world’s oldest medical textbook, called Nei Ching, which translates into Yellow Emperor’s Canon of Internal Medicine. Many doctors on a global scale still refer to this text today for herbal insight.

Although Western medicine has had an influence over Chinese medicine in the modern world, Traditional Chinese Medicine retains its strong influence as a powerful way to combine herbal treatment and technology.

The Chinese strongly believe that your mind and body must be in sync to avoid illness, which is why they have mental health tied into herbal remedies. Western medicine separates the two into different categories, treating the mind separate from the body.

However, Chinese herbal remedies are now being used to treat mental disorders, such as depression in the Western World.

Allergies Can Make You Snore

Do you have a problem with snoring? You might be surprised to find out that it is coming from a problem with allergies. Even if you do not typically have allergic reactions, they can show up during the night whenever we are breathing more deeply.

Pollen – Most people realize that they have some problems with pollen allergies but few of them make that connection between this type of allergen and snoring. During the day, our hair acts as a magnet for this type of pollen and if we don’t wash our hair before bedtime, it can be transferred to the pillow. This can make for a very difficult night of sleep as we breathe the pollen in from the pillow slip.

Detergents – You might think that you are doing yourself a large favor by keeping your sheets cleaned regularly but if you are allergic to the detergent, it can cause a lot of problems. Try switching to a hypoallergenic detergent that is also for sensitive skin. You might be surprised to find out that the problem disappears soon after the switch is made.

Tips for your Prosperity:

Educate Your Kids, Have Fun and Save Money Too

Nobody ever said that having fun couldn’t be a learning experience as well. There are so many inexpensive ways to have fun with your kids and educate them at the same time. Learning together makes for smart kids and fond memories.

Your local library is the obvious place to start. Books provide unlimited knowledge and avenues to unknown destinations. Libraries offer lectures, movies, and storytellers for all ages usually for free or a modest admission charge.

Be sure and ask about the annual library book sale. You and your children can amass countless books for almost nothing.

Take your children to a museum and you take them to discovery. Most towns have numerous museums exhibiting a wide range of subjects including natural history and art. Some of the more modern museums offer hands on or interactive exhibits.

You can visit these museums often and see something different each time. Of course, don’t miss aquariums to teach your youngsters about creatures of the sea.

County or State Fairs are also filled with fun and learning A visit can be very inexpensive if you avoid the rides and midway. Many free shows are presented each day ranging from swooping birds, dogs chasing a Frisbee to military bands.

The various exhibits can be quite educational and include new cars and energy of the future. Check the fair’s website for special days when kids get in free.

Make a worm farm. This is a learning experience that could turn into a business. Worms can thrive in a properly made container and multiply quickly. They eat waste from the garden and table scraps. (Not meat or dairy.)

Worms are easy to care for but you do have to keep the soil moist and provide good drainage. Your crop is excellent for fishermen and gardeners.

Children can learn a lot about life by visiting a nursing home. They don’t have to know anyone there. Most homes are asking for volunteers to come and visit with residents who are lonesome and have no family.

It would be nice for visitors to bring greeting cards or some other small token to be given. Your visits would be appreciated.

Enrol your child in special classes such as art, dance, music or learning a new language. Let the child’s obvious talent be your guide or encourage the youngster to step out of his comfort zone and learn a new skill. Many of these classes are held at community colleges or libraries and are free or reasonably priced.

Teach your children some of the games of your day such as throwing horseshoes or washers. These games can still be family favorites and cost nothing to play. Invite the neighbors over for family contests.

Become your kids’ favorite storyteller by relating tales of your childhood and theirs before they can remember. Tell them for instance what happened on the day they were born. Sharing is teaching; and families that learn together enjoy being together.
