One Minute Tip:
The next time you make a mistake, in order to make sure you learn something positive from the experience, ask yourself these seven questions (from Rob Woollard of StartupNation.com): 1. What can I learn from this mistake without beating myself up? 2. How can I handle this situation next time to ensure a more positive outcome? 3. Does dwelling on this mistake any longer help my business, family, mental or physical health? 4. Can I reframe this setback as an opportunity and move toward a positive change? 5. In retrospect, can I see that past mistakes actually were blessings? 6. Is this mistake part of my learning curve moving me toward greater success? 7. Are there people I admire who have made major mistakes but still achieved great success?

‘Silent Saturday’ takes the pressure off kids
It’s a program designed to take some pressure off kids in school sports, and it’s gaining momentum in the U.S. The Silent Saturday movement forbids parents and coaches to do much more than clap at kids’ sporting events.
Parents can encourage kids to play the best they can, but should also teach kids to be good sports says advisor Rick Wolff.
At www.sportsparenting.org, Wolff recommends that parents:
* Make an effort to teach kids not to get angry during the game. Tell him or her that every game is a new challenge. The only thing that can be controlled is how much effort a child puts into the game.
* Put most emphasis on doing a personal best and learning to deal with frustration.
* Teach your child that there will be times when the team loses, but that is to be expected. Don’t be a sore loser.
* Teach charity. Learning to say “Nice game” to an opponent is part of the game just like practicing and playing.
* Parents should set a good example by not being too emotional during games, not shouting at their child, the officials, or other players. Eliminating Fear of Making Speeches with Good Speaking Habits to Form
Speaking in public is an activity that most people dread because there seems to be so much pressure to speak in front of a large audience. But public speaking shouldnt be horrifying if you form good speaking habits that will help improve your confidence and at the same time make a good impression on your listeners.
Here are some good speaking habits to form:
1. Know what you are talking about. The majority of those who stumble in public speaking do so because they dont actually know much about their material. It is important to really master your speech before you make it. It pays to practice so you wont have to read your notes. Practice your speech everyday for several weeks before the event to get it in your head.
2. Keep eye contact with your audience. People think that if they avoid looking at their listeners, they will be able to speak more. This is actually counter productive. By maintaining eye contact with your audience, you keep yourself engaged in the speech. You will also be able to communicate with them better.
3. Dress well. When making a speech, you are trying to be the center of attention. To succeed in this you have to present yourself in a pleasing manner. Dress appropriate for the occasion, but dress just a tad bit better than your audience so that you will command their attention.
4. Practice, practice, practice. While some astonishing speakers may make speeches spontaneously, the overwhelming majority may not be able to do so, and that could include you. In order to speak well you have to master everything, not only the material of your speech, but the way you speak as well.
6. Be comfortably still. It is really annoying to see someone speaking with unnecessary gestures like stomping, hand shaking, or swaying. Avoid these things and just stand still, but not to stiff. Maintain a comfortable and calm stance. This will make it also easier for your listeners to look at you.
7. Maintain a comfortable speaking pace . If you speak to fast, you might not be understood by your audience. If you speak to slowly, your listeners might take a nap. Keep a normal, comfortable space to make your speech clear and understandable.
Good speaking habits arent difficult to develop. With practice and careful planning you can form good speaking habits that will make you a good public speaker.
A Garden in Your Craft Room: Drying and Pressing Flowers
One of the most beautiful craft supplies you can use is available to you in your own back yard. Thats rightyou dont have to look any farther than your garden for pretty flowers that can be pressed or dried to use in a variety of fun craft projects.
Flowers are inexpensive and give your crafts that special earthy touch for little cost to you. Drying and pressing flowers is not difficult, so you can begin the process today.
The easiest way to preserve your flowers is by hanging them to dry. This works well for bouquets from your garden, as well as for arrangements you may give as a gift.
First, remove any parts of the flower you dont wish to keep, such as excess leaves. Divide the flowers into small bunches so there is ample room for them to dry, and then tie the miniature bouquets together with ribbon or band them together with rubber bands.
Hang them upside down somewhere that is dry so that your flowers dont rot, and make sure the place is also dark, since light can fade your flowers. Check on your flowers every few days and they should be ready to use in your craft projects after just two weeks!
If you want to use the flowers for a different use, however, such as decoupage, you can press them. This is not a good way to keep densely-petaled flowers, like marigolds, but it works well for rose petals, violets, leaves, and other flowers that are already semi-flat.
To do this project, youll need cardboard, newspaper, and tissue paper. Lay a piece of each down, in that order, and then arrange your flowers to be pressed. Make sure that they are not touching one another.
Cover with another piece of tissue paper, another piece of newspaper, and another piece of cardboard. You can repeat the process again now if you have more flowers to press than would fit on one layer.
Once you finish with the last piece of cardboard, set a heavy book, like an encyclopedia book or large dictionary on top of the whole thing, and bricks or heavy rocks on top of that. After about 4 weeks, your flowers will be pressed and ready to use in craft projects.
How you use your dried and pressed flowers is up to you. Theyre great for making everything from gifts to greeting cards! Dont overlook this great craft supply when youre designing new projects.
Tips for your Health:
Steer clear of winter driving hazards
Authorities on the subject say the rules for vehicle maintenance and driving technique apply in all seasons.
But, the penalty for not heeding them is more serious in winter. With that in mind, consider this advice from the National Safety Council:
Before even considering driving in bad weather, make sure your vehicle checks out and all systems are working properly. Make sure you have all-season or snow tires, and that they are properly inflated.
Assemble your emergency kit. A plastic crate or tote bag will hold gloves, a scarf, knit cap, extra clothes, ice scraper, safety goggles, flashlight, flares, jumper cables, water, and a first aid kit. You could add boots, blankets, a snow shovel and snow brush. A bag of sand or two pieces of burlap will give extra traction.
Now, ask yourself if you really have to go. Check the weather report and your own physical and emotional state. If you can postpone the trip, do so. If not …
* Buckle everyone up. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety says kids under 12 should travel in the back seat in an age-appropriate safety seat.
* Be gentle on your car. Turn everything off before starting the engine. Avoid braking too hard or too abruptly, and accelerate smoothly.
* Double the 2-second rule for the interval between your vehicle and the one ahead. Sometimes a 6-second interval is better.

What is anti-aging?
We are living longer as a whole. Singularly, that can be a curse or a blessing depending on your perspective.
Today the average duration of human life in the United States is just about 70 years for women and a little less for men. Conservative experts believe that man is really build to last about 100 years; and that medial advances and more healthful anti-aging living habits could bring this about within a generation or two.
What good is it to add years to life if you do not enjoy vibrant health and energy to enjoy those extra years? In fact, unless people learn to enjoy life and to grow old gracefully, the extra years may be an additional burden.
From 18 to 30 years is roughly the period of highest physical and mental vigor. The experiences we accumulate from the day we are born help us to conserve and to use our physical and mental abilities more wisely, so that for some time after 30 years we are able to perform increasingly well in spite of slowly slipping vigor. After age 50 the increasing accumulation of experience is no longer able to offset the now more rapidly energy and therefore aging begins to assert itself noticeably and in many ways.
Signs & Symptoms of aging
A number of things may come about gradually such as people who have not used eyeglasses before may at some time in their forties need them for reading, and in the fifties they usually need bifocals.
Also in the forties, people are likely to put on weight because there is a general slowdown in the oxidation rate of the aging body tissue. Also we tend to do less strenuous work with no reduction in the amount of food consumed.
And in the fifties there is likely to be some loss of hearing. Usually the high-pitched tomes go first, so words with the sounds of F, S, and TH are confused. A hearing aid may be needed in some cases. Aging is generally accompanied by a loss in physical and mental flexibility. This is noticed in a tendency to become stiff in the joints; in slower comeback after a strenuous trip, excessive “night life,” or hard work; in slower healing of wounds, sore muscles, and sprains; in slower recovery of pep after an illness; and in greater difficulty to adjust to new people, new places, and new ideas.
Men, especially, will notice loss of muscular strength. There will be increased unsteadiness and delicate muscle movements will be more clumsy and the stride in waking will become shorter. The conclusion now is that the performance and ability of the elderly has long been underestimated and can be greatly improved by a proper diet, sleep and exercise along with rest and relaxation.
Many elderly people tend to lose their joy and will to live and chronic worriers may mope around and withdraw. Medical authorities now say that laughter is one of the best medicines for the elderly. You can always keep your sense of humor tuned up by surrounding yourself with pleasant and interesting people. Just act your age and don’t be afraid to laugh at yourself even when no else is around.
Now that we all know the role that physical activity plays in our lives, remember to do something physical every day. The joints must be used or quite simply they will tighten with age creating that stooped worn out appearance we so often associate with getting old. Keep yourself flexible and fit on an exercise program consistent with your ability.
Some of the Problems associated with Aging: There are over 13.5 million Americans alive today who have a history of heart attacks, angina or a combination of both. 50% of them are age 60 or older and 83% who die of heart attacks are 65 or more. Today, many doctors rank fat intake right up there with smoking for leading cause of death.
What Causes Aging?
Generally speaking, the immune system begins to decline around age 50 and by age 60 may already be seriously compromised.
As we age, our systems are not working as efficiently as they once were. For example, you dont have as much stomach acid that helps to get nutrients from food. That means that as much as 40% of the nutrients you ingest may go unused resulting in deficiencies of vitamins D, B6, B12, riboflavin, folate and calcium.
Your bodys system for storing the nutrients isnt as efficient either because the percentage of body fat increases with age. While your metabolism keeps you alive and healthy, it also produces by products that can be harmful including free radicals and other compounds that cause damage to cells DNA and can lead to many of the effects of old age.
As we get older, the body reduces the amount of antioxidants it produces and it will become more difficult to get enough antioxidant protection just from your food. Although you can get most of the nutrients you need from a multi-vitamin, you may want to take extra supplements of certain vitamins and minerals to promote optimum health.
Why Do We Age?
There are a lot of theories as to why we age, why our skin ages and why our bodies grow old. Here are just some of the most popular theories that scientists use.
Its in the genes.
It now seems that the genes also hold the key to unlocking the mysteries of aging. It states that people have a “genetic time-clock” that can go off anytime. Despite this, scientists don’t know what exactly sets people apart or why it happens. What they have found out is that there are people who are naturally younger looking and more active than their counterparts. Children of parents who have lived long will also have children who live long. By standard, women lead longer lives than men.
With genetic problems such as Alzheimer’s, there are also some people who are pre-destined to lead shorter lives.
Free Radicals
Diet is the primary reason for getting anti-oxidants in the body. It is important that we have enough stored anti-oxidants in the body if we want to have it last until later. This is because the body’s ability to produce these anti-oxidants will diminish as we grow old. This is perhaps why people who don’t eat properly look older than those who always eat balanced meals.
Hormones
Anti-Aging Prevention
Everyone wants to stay young and beautiful. This is why more and more people begin to look to all the latest anti-aging products and treatments available on the market. When it comes to anti-aging practices, it is important to remember that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. This means that even before we begin to notice the visible signs of aging on our skin, we need to take the necessary precautions to ensure that we are able to maintain our youthful looking skin longer.
To prevent us from having to resort to very expensive anti-aging products and treatments, we need to embody a lifestyle that is friendly to our bodies and is able to help prevent unnecessary elements that promote the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on our skin as well.
We can begin our anti-aging lifestyle change by eliminating harmful elements in our life. Everyone knows that smoking is harmful to their health and it is extremely harmful to our skin. No anti-aging regimen will work successfully if we continue to smoke. Smoking takes its toll on our entire body as well as on our skin. Studies show that smokers tend to lose skin elasticity easier than those who don’t smoke. When our skin looses its elasticity, the fine lines and wrinkles appear.
Aside from smoking, it is also very important to avoid pollutants in general. This means that our anti-aging regimen should include avoiding exposure to excessive dust and pollution in the environment. We will need to protect our skin from the harmful rays of the sun as well. This can be achieved through the proper moisturizing sun blocks.
It shouldn’t stop there however because we will also have to be vigilant about the types of pollutants that we get through food and drink. We need to eat healthy and wisely so that we don’t feed our bodies junk and other harmful chemicals and substances that will help speed up the aging process.
However if we begin to detect signs of aging in our skin, it’s still not too late to reverse the damage. Invest in good anti-aging products that fight anti-oxidants and free radicals while repairing and maintaining the skin’s proper elastin and collagen levels. These treatments should be combined with moisturizers and the proper amount of sleep to help our skin naturally repair and regenerate new skin cell tissues.

Tips for your Prosperity:
Be sure to read it before signing the lease
Apartment complex managers say most people don’t read the whole lease before signing it. Later, if there’s a problem, they’ll say, “You didn’t tell me that.” Then they’ll read their lease.
The lease is an agreement between the owner and the person renting an apartment. There is no standard lease, some are long and some are short. Most cover similar issues, but the detail can differ significantly.
Failure to know the terms of a lease is not a defense for violating the terms. Nothing said orally will change any part of the lease. If you don’t agree with all terms, don’t sign.
If the apartment manager and tenant agree to any change, both should initial the change, as well as additions or deletions to the contract.
How to Ask Your Employer About Working from Home
Do you love your job, but just not the people in which you work with or the workplace setting in general? If your answer is yes, you may want to think about asking your employer if you can work from home. Even if working from home is an idea that you do not feel your employer will support, you may still want to give it a try. After all, inquiring shouldnt cause any harm
Before outlining how you can go about asking your supervisor if you can work from home, it is important to make sure that it would even be possible for you to do so. This requires examining a number of different points. First, you will want to examine if it is even possible for you to work from home. Can you complete all of your tasks and duties from home?
You will want to make sure that your job is something that you can even do from home. For instance, if you are a company greeter and your job involves greeting and directing all clients to the right department, you will likely be unable to perform your required tasks at home.
Secondly, you will want to examine if you have the equipment needed to work from home. The equipment that you will need to work from home will all depend on your company, as well as your job tasks. Although there will be some variances, you will likely need to have a business phone, business phone service, a copy machine, fax machine, a computer, and possibly even high speed internet. If you do not already have these items in your possession, you will need to examine the cost of purchasing them.
Thirdly, you will want to examine your ability to work from home. As nice as it is to be able to work from home, you should know that working from home isnt right for everyone. You will want to make sure that you are able to stay focused and stay on task without supervision from your boss.
If you cannot do so or if you are unsure if you will have a problem, you may want to reconsider working from home. Saying that you are more than capable of working from home, when you are actually not, can have dire consequences. You may end up putting your job, as well as your good name in jeopardy.
If, after considering the above mentioned points, you think that you would be a good work at home candidate, you will want to work on your approach. You will not want to ask your supervisor about working from home on an impulse. You will want to carefully plan out your approach. You want to so in a professional matter. You should ask about working from home in a formal meeting that you have set up. Try and avoid asking your supervisor over the phone or in an email.
Before your scheduled meeting is to take place, you will want to make sure that you have all of your bases covered. You will want to create a pros and cons list that you can use to outline both the advantages and disadvantages of working from home. You should also have a good reason as to why you, in particular, want to work from home, as your employer will likely ask.
When asking your supervisor about the possibility of working from home, you will want and need to sell yourself. That is why it is advised that you create a pros and cons list. You will also want to prepare for this meeting with practice. See if any of your friends or family members would like to play the role of your boss in mock meeting. Practicing your approach may help to ease any nervousness that you may have.

Points to Ponder! (and friendship)
1. I love you not because of who you are, but because of who I am when I am with you.
2. No man or woman is worth your tears, and the one who is, won’t make you cry.
3. Just because someone doesn’t love you the way you want them to, doesn’t mean they don’t love you with all they have!
4. A true friend is someone who reaches for your hand & touches your heart.
5. The worst way to miss someone is to be sitting right beside them knowing you can’ t have them.
6. Never frown, even when you are sad, because you never know who is falling in love with your smile.
7. To the world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world. 8. Don’t waste your time on someone who isn’t willing to waste their time on you.
9. Maybe God wants us to meet a few wrong people before meeting the right one, so that when we finally meet that person, we will know how to be grateful.
10. Don’t cry because it is over, SMILE because it happened.
11. There’s always going to be people who hurt you. So what you have to do is keep on trusting. Just be more careful about who you trust next time around. 12. Make yourself a better person and know who you are before you try to know someone else and expect them to know you.
13. Don’t try so hard, the best things come when you least expect them to. 14. REMEMBER: WHATEVER HAPPENS, HAPPENS FOR A REASON.
True friends: How many people actually have 8 true friends?
But some of us have all right friends and good friends!!!
Just APPRECIATE them all!
FRIENDSHIP!
Are your Friends taking you forward or holding you back?
Tell me who your best friends are, and I will tell you who you are.
Proverbs says, “A mirror reflects a man’s face, but what he is really like is shown by the kind of friends he chooses.” The simple but true fact of life is that you become like those with whom you closely associate – for the good and the bad.
Think about it; almost all of our sorrows spring out of the relationships with the wrong people. Instead, “Keep out of the suction caused by those who drift backwards” (E.K.Piper).
The less you associate with some people, the more your life will improve. Any time you tolerate mediocrity in others it increases your mediocrity.
A true Bulgarian proverb confirms, “If you find yourself taking two steps forward and one step backwards, invariably it’s because you have mixed associations in your life.” If a loafer isn’t a nuisance to you, it’s a sign that you are somewhat of a loafer yourself. I have discovered that an important attribute in successful people is their impatience with negative thinking and negative acting people.
A true friend is one who is there to care. They remain your friend even if you don’t deserve to have a friend. They will see you through when others think you’re through. If you were to list your greatest benefits, resources or strengths, you would find that money is one of the least important ones while some of your greatest resources are the people you know. A true friend sees beyond you to what you CAN be.
Invest in good relationships. The way to make a true friend is to be one. Your wealth is where your friends are. Consider what Francesco Guicciardini said: “Since there is nothing so well worth having as friends, never lose a chance to make the right ones.”
As you grow, your associates will change. Some of your friends will not want you to go on. They will want you to stay where they are. Friends that don’t help you climb, will want you to crawl. Your friends will stretch your vision or choke your dream. Those who don’t increase you, will eventually decrease you.
Consider this: never receive counsel from unproductive people. Never discuss your problems with someone incapable of contributing to the solution, because those who never succeed themselves are always first to tell you how. Not everyone has a right to speak into your life. You are certain to get the worst of the bargain when you exchange ideas with the wrong person.
Don’t follow anyone who’s not going anywhere. With some people you spend an evening: with others you invest it. Be careful where you stop to inquire for directions along the road of life. You might be sent the wrong way.
Wise is the person who fortifies his/her life with the right friendships.
