Stop Analyzing, Start Living.

A lot of psycho- babble teaches us that we need to know the “why” about our behavior before we can address it. And the “why” can sometimes help correct a problem, or give you a reason for your action.

But most of what we all do on a daily basis is not the product of some deep dark psychological reason. It’s habit. Change your habits, and you’ll change your life. Change your attitude and you’ll change your life.

Change your environment and you’ll change your life. Ask yourself, “What habit is the biggest obstacle to achieving my goals?”

Self help strategies for couples, strategies for Sharing your life with someone else:

When you enter into a ‘partnership’ one of the very first things you notice as part of a couple is that you are no longer master of your own life. It may be that you feel restrictions placed on you to account for your every minute and to be on call and on time for things that may or may not be a high priority for you.

This can be negotiated with good communication skills. While most women love to express their feeling and concerns, most men dread the words “we need to talk” and yet are also in need of self-expression to clarify what can be confusing crossed signals for them. An exiting, passionate and trusting relationship can only ever be built on healthy self esteem and the ability to be comfortable about stating your needs and concerns. These are both strengths that you can build in yourself and help your partner to develop.

It can become a real problem when one person believes ‘living happily ever after’ means being ‘joined at the hip’ 24 hours a day. Gently draw the boundaries of what is fun for both of you and what will remain solo interests.

These sorts of questions can help to identify the ways you both need to be talked to, held, touched, the things you need to say to each other, to both feel loved and desirable.

It is a mistake to assume that the things you need to hear are the same things your partner needs to hear, see, to feel totally loved. One may be tactile, another verbal, another needs tangible or doing things for expressions of love. Talk to each other after you prepare some questions and answers and make sure you ARE ‘telling’ each other how much you love them.

Time management – create a schedule that allows for shared time with both of you doing the things you enjoy. And also allows for any solitude or solo activities that you require for your peace and sanity. The classic “date night” can be uncomfortable at the very beginning, but why not try to have at least one day or evening a month that you take turns to pick your favorite destinations or activities – to do TOGETHER.

Practice shared fun activities and romantic settings as often as you can, or the temptation will be to move further and further apart, doing your own things.

To Tell or Not to Tell

Experts will disagree on how much of a person’s past should be shared in a relationship and while some things probably should be shared, most people lean more to not sharing every aspect of the past.

First, it is the past. Think back to how much people grow through the teen years to mid-twenties.

Offering unnecessary information from the past is a great way to create distrust, insecurity, and more questions than answers. Be wise when sharing.

Tips for your Health:

Becoming A Healthy Eater
Being a healthy eater requires you to become both educated and smart about what healthy eating actually is. Being food smart isn’t about learning to calculate grams or fat, or is it about studying labels and counting calories.

Healthy eating is all about balanced and moderate eating, consisting of healthy meals at least three times per day. Healthy eaters eat many different types of foods, not limiting themselves to one specific food type or food group.

Eating healthy requires quite a bit of leeway. You might eat too much or not enough, consume foods that are sometimes more or less nutritious. However, you should always fuel your body and your brain regularly with enough food to keep both your mind and body strong and alert.

A healthy eater is a good problem solver. Healthy eaters have learned to take care of themselves and their eating with sound judgement and making wise decisions. Healthy eaters are always aware of what they eat, and know the effect that it will have on their bodies.

When someone is unable to take control of their eating, they are also likely to get out of control with other aspects of life as well. They could end up spending too much, talking too much, even going to bed later and later.

You should always remember that restricting food in any way is always a bad thing. Healthy eating is a way of life, something that you can do to enhance your body or your lifestyle. If you’ve thought about making your life better, healthy eating is just the place to start. You’ll make life easier for yourself, those around you, and even your family.
