How to Stop Worrying About What Others Think of You
People are judgmental. It is innate in us to look at other people and judge them. There is no way to avoid it. You can try to work your way to reach everyone and improve the way they see you but the truth is, you cannot please everybody. Some people will like you, and some people will not --- the sooner that you realize this, the better. People will always have an opinion about you and you need to accept this fact. You cannot dwell on this because it will only upset you even further.
In business, you will be able to please a number of people with your work and you will also meet others who will have a few negative opinions about the way you handle things. They will say hurtful things, to deliberately harm you nevertheless, you should be able to find a way to cope with this so that it will not worry you so much.
1. Nobody is perfect. You definitely are not an exception.
First, you need to accept that nobody is perfect. You are not perfect and those who are trying to put you down are not perfect too. You will encounter mistakes from time to time and other people will witness these mistakes and they may have a few things to say about it. You have to first accept, that as easily as you can commit errors, the people around you can do the same, too. Put yourself in their position and try to understand what made them say those things. You can try to tailor yourself so as to pass the approval of the people around you, but if you cannot do it, do not sweat it because the people who you are concerned about have their own shortcomings too.
2. You cannot control what other people think about you.
You can try to do multiple cartwheels in front of other people and they will still not find a reason to like you. Sometimes, when people hear bad things being said about themselves, they obsess about it too much. They try hard to try to change the opinions of the other people but the truth is, you can never do that. Try to put your best foot forward, but if they refuse to accept you for who you really are, then take a deep breath and let go. Face the music. You can never control what people will think about you even if give it your best shot. Learn to let it go and show them that you could not care less; most people stop bothering when they realize that they are not getting to you. If you obsess about it too much you will motivate them to even mess with you more, so just accept what has been said and let it go.
3. Love and believe in yourself.
The people you will meet will have many opinions about what you say and do. Some of the things that they will say may be true and some of them may not be. The bottom line is this, you know who you are and you know what you do --- do not let what others think ruin your confidence. Have faith in yourself and show the world what they are missing. Do not try so hard to please everyone by hiding your true self. Do not be pretentious and do not try to be popular. A lot of people try so hard and they end up looking too desperate. Just go with the flow and believe in your own ability to overcome all of this, and things will magically happen for you.
