How to Break Free from the Under-Earning Cycle
Who wants to earn just enough or worse, below what they need? Unfortunately, even if everyone wants to be able to earn more than what they need, not everyone is paid according to their needs and wants.
Some people live through their lives barely making it from day-to-day. They slave themselves at work just to be able to pay the bills.
They earn exactly what they need and sometimes earn below what is required of them. It is sad but it is also the reality for majority of income-earners today. Many people go through this kind of painful cycle and many of them never get out of it.
The under-earning cycle is sometimes a curse you get from birth. You were born to under-earning parents and all your life under their roof, you never felt any sense of comfort.
When your turn finally comes, you get on the under-earning bandwagon and you give your family the same life, the only life you know of. Are you content? Does this really make you happy?
You jump from one job to another trying to find some relief from your problems but you cannot seem to find a permanent solution.
Here are some questions that will help you determine if you are an under-earner. When you answer yes to at least one question, then it is an indication that you are in fact an under-earner.
• Do you only earn enough to meet your daily needs?
• Do you scare away from opportunities and get intimidated by bigger responsibilities?
• Do you shy away from people who want to hire you?
• Do you enjoy giving your service for free?
• Do you love to over-spend during the rare occasions that you have money?
How can you break free from this cycle? Are you wondering if there is still a way to break free?
• As with any problem, it is first important for you to recognize that you have a problem.
You need to acknowledge the fact that you are an under-earner before you could even try to remedy your problem. How can you find a solution to a problem that does not exist? First you accept and be willing to find a solution.
• Identify the cause.
If you are an under-earner, find out why you are so. Are you an under-achiever, are you not being compensated enough in your job, are you working in the wrong job, and are you spending too much? You need to pinpoint the cause of your problem so you could find a quick solution to it.
• Be more confident about your ability and skills.
Most of the people who find themselves stuck in this under-earning cycle remain victims for a long time because they have low self-esteem and are more comfortable in achieving low-level goals that demand less from them.
This, of course, limits a person from achieving great things for themselves and prohibits them from securing jobs that compensate quite well.
• Accept offers that are given to you.
If you are given opportunities to earn, switch jobs and improve your career, consider it instead of closing your doors immediately, Do not be intimidated by higher positions and bigger pays.
Sometimes you have to realize that you may deserve a good break too, so open your doors and let the sunshine in. Who knows this may be the opportunity that will break the cycle?
