How to Be Happy | Bring the Little Girl Back

Think back to the little girl you once were. Chances are, life was just a big playground where no rules applied. You could basically do anything you want and not have to worry about the repercussions. The important thing was you were experiencing the world and all its glory. Then, you grow up. Everything changes from there. Miss the old life? It just might be time to reclaim at least some of that child in you.

So many things happen to you, and some of these experiences even hurt you and left an indelible scar inside. While these things are a natural part of growing up, you sometimes sacrifice a bit of who you are when you achieve these goals. As a child, you spend hours just daydreaming and doing things out of sheer fun. But as you grow up, you earn a few responsibilities. Then one day, you wake up and realize that you have too much under your belt. You actually don’t realize that you’ve been neglecting the things that really make you feel happy. The carefree attitude gets buried deep in the sand, and this kind of sucks. That deeper sense of who you truly are as a person comes in handy when you find yourself lost in the adult world.

Of course, you shouldn’t relive your childhood totally and forget about the life you have now. It’s more about realizing what’s missing right now and bringing back some of the personality that you had. You can define what’s missing by taking a simple look back at the past and comparing these moments to the ones you experience right now. Pay attention to the things that you miss and apply them in your world right now.

Once you’ve figured out what you miss, it’s time to take action. Maybe you’ve aspired to travel the world or join a club of some sort. The key here is to take action and to be creative. Take risks and follow your instincts. Remember, your intuition is usually right. Know what that bringing back some of these elements may startle other people. Your friends and loved ones may think that getting into a new hobby may be too late for you. And it may throw off some when you suddenly start showing a new side of your personality.

Whatever people expect of you, don’t let their opinions inhibit you from doing what you need to do to feel happy. While they mean well, only you will know what kinds of things feel authentic and real to you. Always think of how life would be like for you ten years down the road. It would be sad if you had regrets by then because this is when some of the dreams you have may be too late. As impulsive as they may be, it is also something that you can’t bring yourself to regret. You don’t want to wonder about anything, and as much as possible, try to have the all questions that you have answered while you still can.
