An ancient old saying that “an apple a day keeps the doctor away” has been proven for a long time now. Apples are rich in antioxidants and other vitamins and nutrients that make it best to be part of the daily diet of every individual. However, apple is not the only fruit that gives such amount of vitamins and nutrients. There are a lot of them to choose from that are equally as healthy as an apple.

Like an apple, bananas are very abundant, not only in the United States but around the world. Bananas are sweet and delicious and they are very rich in dietary fiber which keeps the bowel action in a normal level. In addition to that, bananas have a high portion of carbohydrates which is a good energy source. Due to that, it is well loved by most athletes.

Apricots, which have gained popularity as one of the most effective ingredients into various beauty products, contain a lot of nutrients such as Vitamin A, C, E, potassium and iron. In addition to that, lycopene are also found in apricots which helps in the prevention of certain cancer and heart ailments. Apricots also contain fiber which aids in digestion. Thus, for those who have constipation, it is advisable to eat an apricot before meals.

Loving blueberry cheesecakes? Well, it’s good since blueberries are rich in anthocyanins and protocatechuic acid which helps in preventing high blood pressure. Just don’t indulge too much on the cheesecake. In addition to that, it has an exceptional property that keeps the brain healthy, which in turn prevents nerve aging and boosts the overall health to fight cancer.

Moreover, researchers found out that blueberries are among the top fruits which contain antioxidants. As what have been known already, antioxidants have the ability to neutralize free radicals. For that matter, blueberries can help protect the body from the damaging effects of free radicals such as cancer thus making the body healthy and younger looking.

Cherries, which are often found as toppings of most cakes are considered as the top super fruit since it has the highest content of iron as well as antioxidants. Aside from that, it also has an enormous amount of beta-carotene, – 20 times as compared to blueberries and strawberries, – fiber, folate, potassium, magnesium, and Vitamin C and E.

Due to the exceptionally high amount of nutrients found in cherries, different researches have concluded that cherries are excellent in reducing the cholesterol level of an individual. It also reduces the blood sugar level and insulin level. Moreover, since it contains a sumptuous amount of iron, it can be of great help in the regeneration of red blood cells which can effectively prevent and even cure anemia.

The above mentioned fruits are just some of the lists that are very good for the body. In reality, there are a lot more, like muskmelon, strawberries, avocado and others. They are easy to find and mostly available on the local market. Thus, there’s no reason not to include them on the daily diet.
