Change Your Visions from Anger to Joy
People go through life experiencing many different emotions daily. Feelings can switch back and forth in a moment’s instance. You can bring back those feelings through remembering. Remembrances are ways of bringing back past feelings. There are events or incidents that you don’t want to bring up again because it brings about a negative emotion.
The incidents may have been natural occurrences but it struck us in a negative fashion and gave rise to our negative emotions. If we had simply accepted those incidents as accidents and shrugged them off, then it is possible we would have never undergone those negative emotions.
Our emotions are swayed by the way we envision things. Here are a few comments on how we view matters and how our emotions react to our perceptions.
Anger is subjective. It is not so much the things that happen nor the people involved but how we view and handle the situation. The moment we wake up, we immediately have a feeling of how the day will progress.
This is equivalent to the adage of “waking up on the wrong side of bed”. Technically speaking, there is no right or wrong side of a bed although superstitious people claim the left side is the wrong side.
The adage means you woke up in a foul or grouchy mood. You have an ominous outlook for the day and you feel that everything will go wrong. You are ready to get angry at an instant’s notice with anyone or anything that crosses your path.
Don’t let this feeling happen. Start your day with a smile and see how well the day progresses without a hitch.
Being a worry wart that magnifies every problem that comes along is one way of displaying a high intensity of anger. All types of problems are viewed with a sense of pending disaster and any action or inaction could result in a flare-up of anger and hate.
Take deep breaths and think out the problem slowly and objectively. This takes a lot of self-discipline and determination at the start. Once you get into this habit, it becomes easier to face problems.
There are people all around willing to offer suggestions and help one another. Some of them may have good ideas or solutions. If you believe that you are better than everyone, you may have the tendency to put other people down or simply ignore their recommendations. Be open-minded and flexible.
Your perennial stance that your approach is always the correct way will result in people getting fed up with your attitudes and end up in heated arguments. Give consideration to the comments of others and arrive at the optimum resolution.
Give due credit to the recommendations of others. Recognize their contributions to the work and to society.
Recognizing your perceptions of life and society is the first step to controlling your anger. The more critical step is correcting the wrong perceptions and maintaining noble values. Keep on your toes and don’t backslide in your efforts to come out a better person.
