Career Planning Guide | Going Green for Your Future
There are so many new career planning options available to us nowadays, even if you are about to make mid-life career changes, not just for new graduates and jobseekers on the market.
The internet has opened up a whole new world to work around your computer for a job or a home business, and now the world-wide awareness of our environmental issues has opened yet another branch of career opportunities to consider, especially if you are not someone who wants to work on a computer all day.
If you’re looking to start a new career, then try thinking green, as in sustainable business. Wall Street might not exactly have caught onto the concept yet, but it will only be a matter of time.
Business schools everywhere now offer classes in sustainable business practices while others even offer MBAs in the field. So why is everyone going green? With the direction the environment is headed, people need to think what tomorrow could be like if everyone remained irresponsible and indifferent.
Being aware and vigilant of your impact on society and on the environment is what sustainable business is all about. It is essential for a business to have the “green” qualities.
MBA programs and sustainable business alliances are showing that you can be profitable if you incorporate environmentally and socially sound practices. In fact, people from diverse backgrounds are concerned about preserving our environment right now that using sustainable business practices to run your venture is actually becoming a selling point on its own.
What sort of business is taking care of the bottom line while helping to ensure that the needs of future society and environment are met? Farmers employing organic methods and importers who own their own corporations purchase commodities from cooperatives that use farming techniques that are environmentally harmless and from builders who use materials that are safe and beneficial to the environment. The list keeps getting longer every day.
There's also a whole field of renewable energy where you can set your business from. Envision what life would be like if we weren't so dependent on foreign oil? There are existing alternatives such as biodiesel and ethanol that are renewable fuels.
However, it is just funny and strange how we don't hear much about that in the news. The government of some countries has a mandate requiring that fuels must contain 25% alcohol. They make their ethanol from corn, which they grow anew each season, and their autos, vans, trucks and other vehicles aren't spewing toxins into the environment everyday. It means that they all breathe easier than those living in the countries highly dependent on the usual brand of oil.
There are opportunities that allow you to establish a fuel-related sustainable business. All you need to have is the will to be involved and the ability to communicate and spark the interest of anyone who is willing to listen about the benefits of your product.
You’ll actually be surprised at just how much more people respect you if you show some philanthropy and ingenious when it comes to taking care of the environment you are in.
Yes, the world is on a steep uphill battle. Newspapers and shows constantly talk about how people constantly waste the resources that they have.
Being wise is a plus when it comes to attaining success while making sure that you are always responsible. It is a challenge that you must meet head on.
It takes constant practice but it will all be for your own good in the end. After all, what future will you have if you constantly and recklessly destroy the world you thrive in?
